DB9 USB to Digital Modules

 
 

FTDI has added a series of USB to digital level interface modules, in DB9 form factors, to its product portfolio. The new DB9-USB-D3-F (3.3 V output female connector), DB9-USB-D3-M (3.3 V output male connector), DB9-USB-D5-F (5 V output female connector) and DB9-USB-D5-M (5 V output male connector) enable implementation of USB interconnection into legacy equipment without the need for alteration of the enclosure or for any noticeable increase in the overall bill of materials. These modules all utilise FTDI’s FT232R USB to serial UART bridge chip, which is capable of supporting data rates of 12 Mbits/s (USB Full Speed). PLX Tech expands PCIe Gen3 switch family
 
 
 

PLX Technology Inc. has expanded its PCI Express (PCIe) Gen3 switch family with three new devices that comply with the PCI Express Gen3 r1.0 specification. The new products include the PLX ExpressLane PEX8749 (48-lanes, 18 ports), PEX8733 (32 lanes, 18-ports) and PEX8725 (24 lanes, 10 ports) PCIe Gen3 switches for servers, storage and communications applications.

USB Microcontrollers
 
 

The new USB MCU families have been developed to simplify the addition of USB connectivity to embedded designs. The families, which include 22 products with flash and one-time-programmable (OTP) options, combine a full-speed USB 2.0 interface engine with analog functionality, along with an innovative clock recovery capability to enable crystal-less USB operation for reduced component count and BOM cost. The company claims that the C8051F38x MCU family's enhanced analog/mixed-signal capabilities enable developers to implement high-performance USB connectivity without the extra cost of using a high-end MCU. The flash-based F38x devices are pin- and code-compatible with Silicon Labs' existing C8051F34x USB MCUs while offering an additional I2C interface, a higher performance analog-to-digital converter (ADC), lower power consumption and additional timers. The C8051T62x/32x OTP MCUs are more suitable for cost-sensitive USB applications, as its scalability enables developers to select the most optimized device for their application. The OTP-based USB MCUs provide many of the same peripherals and similar functionality available from Silicon Labs' flash-based devices but at a reduced cost. The F38x and T62x/32x families include USB MCUs featuring a high-performance ADC that enables high precision measurements, eliminating the cost of using external ADCs.

AES Wireless Automated Control Security Demo Kit
 
 

The 4010-DAAKF_868 demo kit is an AES wireless automated control security demo utilizing the Si4010 in the controller and the Si4311 with an LCD screen as the receiver to indicate which of the five buttons on the key fob was pressed. The demo uses FSK modulation with a carrier frequency of 868 MHz. This demo comes with a software program to emulate wireless control of a car and is great for presentations.

Supertex introduced AT9919, a LED lamp driver integrated circuit (IC), designed specifically for solid-state lighting applications in automobiles, such as head lights, tail lights, brake indicator lights, dome lights, and panel backlights. AT9919 is AEC-Q100 compliant, and drives LEDs using a buck topology. It is available in a compact, eight-lead, DFN package.

Bridgelux announced new breakthrough in GaN-ON-Silicon Technology for solid-state lighting
 
 

Bridgelux has shattered its previous industry record for highest Lumen per Watt values for Gallium Nitride on Silicon (GaN-on-Si). Using its proprietary buffer layer technology, the company has demonstrated growth of crack-free GaN layers on 8-inch silicon wafers, without bowing at room temperature, extending the company’s lead in driving the performance and manufacturability of GaN LEDs on silicon substrate. Bridgelux is demonstrating LED performance levels comparable to today’s state-of-the-art sapphire-based LEDs. Cool white LEDs showed efficiencies as high as 160 Lm/W at a CCT of 4350K. Circular connectors from DELTRON
 
 

The DELTRON circular connectors are used in many industrial applications as a flexible and favourably priced solution for the electrical connection of several components.
The DELTRON DELK series made of plastic is sturdy, light and favourable in price. The contact holder is the shell at the same time, and is made of resistant glass fiber reinforced temperature stable plastic. For tougher requirements, the DELTRON DELM series is used. With this series, only the contact holder is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, the shell is made of sturdy zinc diecast. The connector can also be coded by turning the contact holder in the shell. This allows several DELTRON circular connectors to be used in one application without cables being inserted into the wrong receptacles.
A trapezoidal thread with end catch makes the connection vibration proof and allows it to be opened and closed easily. Plugs and receptacles can be equipped with pins, sockets and early make contacts. The contact has been designed for a wide range of cable and insulation diameters an is available with a gold or tin plating (special versions on request). There is a wide range of accessories available for both DELK and DELM series.

Electric Vehicle Quick Charger Connector
 
 

As the momentum for electric vehicle (EV) introduction grows worldwide, fast chargers (Note 1) that enable charging of the EVs in a short time at public locations are drawing attention as a key factor, and their implementation is picking up speed. Ultra Low Capacitance TVS Array
 
 

ProTek Devices introduced the PLR0521, an ultra low capacitance (0.4pF typical) TVS protection device. This single-line bidirectional device is designed to protect computing applications from the damaging effects of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electrical Fast Transients (EFT). Available in a DFN-2 package, the PLR0521's small form factor and foot print makes it ideal for applications that are pressed for board space.
This device in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS/filter network can be used for EMI/RFI protection. The PLR0521 should be placed near a connector or a sensitive IC component for maximum protection.

SCHURTER is expanding its range of surface-mount fuses with the UMF 250. The UMF 250 protects your electronic systems from overcurrents and short-circuits.
