FTDI announced the launch of a range of VNC2 evaluation modules (V2DIP-x), a VNC2 evaluation kit (V2-EVAL) and a VNC2 debug module. These modules are designed to help designers quickly develop embedded USB 2.0 Host/ Slave designs based on FTDI’s recently announced Vinculum VNC2 devices. VNC2 is a user programmable dual USB 2.0 Host/ Slave intelligent SOC controller featuring a customised 16 bit MCU core, 256kByte e-Flash program memory and 16kByte of SRAM data memory. Navman announced its new Jupiter4 GPS module for OEM applications. Building upon the SiRFstarIVTM architecture's high-performance and micro-power capabilities, the Jupiter4 incorporates innovations such as SiRFawareTM, SiRFInstantFixTM and Active Jammer Removal. The Jupiter4 can navigate to -160dBm and track to -163dBm, providing higher coverage, accuracy and availability. This next generation Jupiter4 module consumes only 8mW in 1-Hz TricklePowerTM mode, and can maintain hot-start conditions continuously in SiRFaware mode while drawing as little as 50-500µA. Garz & Fricke expand their product range of embedded systems by the mini HMI NESO 4.3 LT. Just like the devices with 5.7 and 7.0 display, the 4.3 version will also be available with boxed and open frame housing. A flexible configuration makes the system scalable to customer requirements.
The small HMI is equipped with a 400 MHz i.MX25 ARM9 CPU in which the controllers for display, resistive touch and CAN interface have already been integrated. This high integration depth makes it possible reduce the dimensions of the PCB down to just 114 x 47 mm². The basic configuration includes 128 MB RAM and 256 MB NAND-Flash as well as a RS232 interface, SPI, I²C, 1x digital out, LAN, Micro-SD, S/PDIF, line out, USB-Host and USB-OTG. The controller IC for a projective capacitive touch screen has also been integrated. The system might be equipped with a resistive or a PCT touch. Garz & Fricke have prepared option like RS485 or CAN interface. NESO 4.3 LT will be delivered either with Windows Embedded CE 6.0 or Linux.
