Many previously released Android-powered devices are only capable of acting as a USB device and cannot initiate connections with external USB devices. Android Open Accessory support overcomes this limitation and allows you to build accessories that can interact with an assortment of Android-powered devices by allowing the accessory initiate the connection.
FTDI claims its support will benefit engineers using its Arduino-inspired Vinco platform to create USB 2.0 connected embedded systems. The major advantage Vinco is said to have over other development platforms is that the host controller capability is already integrated in to the board itself. It means design engineers do not need to budget for an extra USB host/controller card/IC to implement Android Open Accessories.

PLX successfully demonstrated 10Gbps Ethernet data and electrical transfer, in full compliance with the IEEE 802.3an standard, over a distance of 300 meters using typical, widely installed Cat6A unshielded twisted pair copper cable. The unique networking demonstration, enabled by PLX®-designed Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) repeaters, utilizes a PLX 40nm-based TN8022 dual-port 10GBase-T PHY transceiver.  This breakthrough distance achievement with low-cost Ethernet cabling brings new capabilities to IT managers seeking high-performance networking between multiple server rooms, which, for example, may be located on different floors of a high-rise building or in a campus environment.

The new XC9242/43 series from Torex is a group of synchronous step-down DC/DC converters that can be used with ceramic capacitors and integrates one P-channel and one N-channel MOS power transistors. The small on-resistance of these power transistors permits high efficiencies to be obtained for output currents up to 2A. The XC9242/43 operates with input voltages ranging between 2.7V and 6.0V, and its output voltage can be set between 0.9V and VIN by using two external resistors.
The XC9242/43 series comes with two different switching frequencies, 1.2MHz for applications where a higher efficiency is critical, and 2.4MHz where space is at a premium and when high speed line and load transient responses are required.  Available in a small USP-10B package.

Densitron has introduced a new series of Multi-Touch Projected Capacitive Touchscreens (PCTs) which requires only the slightest touch (near 0 gram activation force) to function.  The new PCTs have the ability to detect multiple stimuli and up to 10 simultaneous touch inputs.  They also enable gestures like zooming in, zooming out and rotation.  As the PCTs are made from an all glass construction, they are less likely to suffer from the Newton rings phenomenon. Inventronics announced recently that there were four more drivers  approved for TUV and KC certifications. 200W 48V constant voltage LED driver has been TUV approved and 100W 2100mA, 2450mA, 3570mA constant current LED drivers have been KC approved. Those are products with wide input voltage for LED lighting applications.  High efficiency and long lifetime are two major features of those series. Each model offers a full load efficiency of 90-92.5%, and the lifetime of these drivers are up to about 68,000 hours for 200W, 118,000 hours for 100W when operating at 80% load with an ambient temperature at 45°C.
