So that broadband systems can be really Broad band, e2v offers the following data converter : AT84AS001 – 12bit 500MSPS ADC.
Highest performance 12bit 500MSPS ADC with 1GHz 3dB full power input bandwidth and 200MHz of 0.5dB flatness. It is the only 12bit 500MSPS in the World with the following features :
- True single core ADC, 500MSPS are achieved without any hidden internal interleaving so that you can achieve high SFDR without compromise.
- Gain and Offset adjustments via SPI to make interleaving a real possibility.
- 1Vp-p input voltage range so that it can be driven with a standard differential amplifier to achieve outstanding dynamic range all the way from DC to 500MHz without suffering from the amplifiers’ 2nd and 3rd order harmonic distortion which typically appears beyond 1Vp-p
- Nearest competitor features 2Vp-p voltage range making the use of amplifiers impossible.
- No pipeline architecture = no long pipeline delay : The folding interpolating architecture has a total delay of only 3 clock cycles to suit the needs of real time systems.
- Max bit error rate : 10-14 (nearest competitor does not specify).

This ADC is well suited for Software Defined Radio systems, frequency domain test equipments, all-in-one Scope & Spectrum analyser devices and radars. But it is also relevant for pulsed laser scanning and pulsed laser distance measurement applications since no calibration is needed prior to pulse sampling.
