Zone 1 power connectors for AdvancedTCA systems |

EPT announced their new product offering of the AdvancedTCA Zone 1 Power Connector. By utilizing a unique selective plating process, EPT maximizes contact reliability with gold over nickel at the contact area and RoHS compliant tin at the press-fit section. EPT also added their proven “Tcom press®” –fit section to the contact for highly reliable and efficient manufacturing. EPT’s Zone 1 connectors have 8 power contacts and 22 signal contacts. EPT’s power connector is designed with a guide pin for ease of mating with a daughter card connector and the insulator bodies are manufactured with UL 94 V-0 rated material. Pre and post mating contacts are provided to allow for a controlled power ramp up and hot-swap capability of the ATCA carrier boards. EPT’s power connectors are fully intermatable with alternative connectors designed to the same standard. Flat-rock insertion tools for the assembling process are also available.

Honda released its brand new Ultra Miniature Board to Board connectors series, the LPZ series.
The LPZ connectors have a contact pitch of 0.3mm and a stacking height of 0.7mm. Available in 32, 40, 48 and 60 contacts. The fully shielded structure around the connector ensures a high level of protection against EMI and the quality of the signal transmitted through the connector. The click feeling felt at the insertion guarantees that 2 connectors are well and firmly connected. Despite its ultra-miniature size, the LPZ series is a very robust solution. The high retension force ensures the connexion in any circumstance. The pcb layout is at 0.6mm pitch thanks to the 2 double zig-zag rows. Soldering the connector on PCB or FPC is thus no problem, and much more reliable than comparative 0.4mm or 0.5mm in-line solutions.

Honda Connectors introduced their very new connectors for Solar Panels. The RZM
series consist into 2 “cable to cable”connectors dedicated to the Power transmission for 20Amps applications.These connectors are extremely robust, IP67, and feature a high Retension Force.TUV approved, these connectors are also being qualified for UL, IEC and the US NEC ! The whole design has been thought to make the RZM EASY TO INSTALL on-site for installers. A simple crimp is needed to connect the RZM to the cable of AWG 10,12 and 14.
The connectors are locked and unlocked by hand. A holding fixture is proposed as an option. The holding fixture is protecting the connection against manual withdrawal as a special tool is needed to release the connection.

High-density connectors feature 0.8 mm contact centres

A new and comprehensive family of high-density I/O connectors based upon
0.8mm contact spacing, has been introduced by Honda Connectors.
The HDR Series connector offers 14, 26, 50 contact positions; and, in the case of HDRA versions, 68 and 100 contact positions with the option of single- or dual-stack configurations. They are offered with through-hole and vertical or right-angle SMT terminations and back shells, and can accommodate screw- or latch-locking. Solder or IDC terminations compatible with 28 to 34AWG are available. Electrical characteristics include a current rating of 0.5A (HDR) or 0.3A; and insulation resistance exceeding 1,000MW (HDR) or 500MW at 250Vdc. Contact resistance does not exceed 70mW. In excess of 5000 mating cycles without deterioration of these characteristics is guaranteed. An important feature of the Series is the level of ESD shielding embodied in its back shells. By maintaining grounding during contact mating or breaking, this prevents electrostatic damage to the host equipment. The back shells themselves are available in vertical or right angle, metal or plastic versions, with screw- or latch-locking. The combined electrical and physical characteristics of this innovative family of connectors, makes it ideally suited to a variety of general and specialised applications typified by machine tool equipment, hand held /portable computers, data loggers, industrial printers, lasers and medical equipment.

Connectors deliver compact and robust PCI Express links

JAE Europe has introduced mating PCB and cable-mounted connectors for
external PCI Express Card and PCIe interconnects. Each connector has 15 contacts enabling direct interfacing to PCI Express Card interconnects as well as support for PCIe transmission. Added features for enhanced signal integrity include a staggered contact arrangement on a 1.27mm mating pitch to minimise crosstalk while meeting PCI-SIG mechanical and electrical specifications. Low contact resistance of 30mO provides designers with extra flexibility to optimise cable lengths.
A current rating of 0.5A per contact allows use in a wide variety of applications including external connection of PCIe cards, interconnecting high-performance systems, and linking evaluation or development boards to a host board or PC. The connectors have a lifetime of 10,000 mating cycles with a operating temperature range of –40°C to +80°C.

Micro-USB Connectors / exceed accepted performance Benchmarks !

Designers seeking space savings by using Micro-USB interconnects can gain
extra features, additional footprint savings and greater durability with the DX4
series receptacles and cable assemblies. The series type-B and type-AB
receptacles meet all specifications of the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for
Micro-USB and include enhancements to the internal design to prevent lifting of
the contact. A stronger insert moulding also enhances contact retention force,
and the stainless shell material used is more rugged than the basic copper alloy
accepted by the USB-IF documentation. With these enhancements, the series
achieves an extraction force of 8N and a mating durability of 10,000 cycles. The
Micro-USB standard occupies 45% less volume than the long established Mini-USB
format, and at 2.35mm, its mounted profile is more than 1.5mm lower.

DisplayPort connector provides external high definition link

The DP1 is an external connector for the DisplayPort digital video and audio
interface that supports high bandwidth services, such as high definition video,
on PCs and home entertainment systems. DisplayPort is a next generation standard
defined by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA)
The DisplayPort specification paves the way for high bandwidth applications by offering a maximum 10.8 Gbit/s transmission rate that can support monitors up to 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) resolution over a single three metre cable. It supports 1080p resolution, increasing popular among larger format flat screen TVs, over a length of up to 15 metres.
JAE’s DP1 is a shielded 20-pin connector featuring a 0.5mm pitch. The surface mount receptacle has four metal solder pins, providing a robust fitting, together with a plastic snap-in pin that enables simple, accurate positioning during equipment assembly.

Horizontal Pin and Female Headers, now in a 1.0 mm pitch

The Pin and Female Header series 7052 and 7092 of W+P PRO-DUCTS save about
20% space compared with 1.27 mm pitch connectors. With the 1.0 mm pitch they
contribute essentially to the trend of downsizing of components.
Brandnew they are now available as horizontal version in SMT.
Attractive applications for the pin and female headers are in automation, mobile telephone systems, telecommunications, industrial PCs and in all areas which require compact size and in the same time a flexible design of devices.
The connectors are characterized by an insulation resistance of > 1000 MW, a test voltage of 500 VAC and a contact resistance of < 20 mW. The contacts are optional available as gold plated or duplex plated version, the insulator consists of high temperature resisting thermoplastic, rated UL 94V0. The solderability is guaranteed for high temperature Pb-free soldering processes. A safe function is assured in a temperature range of –40° to +105°C.

of PCBs according to the PC/104-plus standard. The new system garanties fast
data transmission, low costs and functional safety. W+P PRODUCTS realises the
ISA-Bus (104 contacts) of the PC/104-plus standard with the connector series 622
in 20+20 and 32+32 contact versions. The connectors are designed for 16 bit
systems with a 2,54 mm pitch.The PCI-Bus (120 contacts) of the PC/104-plus standard is provided by the series 412 in a 4x30 contact version. The connector is designed for 32 bit systems with a 2,0 mm pitch.The components are offered in stackable versions and for the lowest board in a standard solder version.

W+P introduces D-Sub Connector with Long Style Footprint

13.84mm is the dimension of the newly introduced D-Sub Connector Series 104
of W+P PRODUCTS. We added this long style format to our standard D-Subs with EU-
and US-footprints.
The long style series offers right-angled D-Subs in male and female configuration and 9 to 37 contacts. The contact material consists of brass or phosphor bronze and have a current rating of 5A. The insulator body consists of UL94 V-0 rated thermoplastics; The insulation resistance measures 1000MOhm min. with a test voltage of 500VDC.
