Power connectors for MicroTCA systems

The MicroTCA™ specification describes the power module, which is connected at the rear with the bus board by a new power connector. After lengthy discussion in the PICMG consortium, it was decided to include two “footprints” in the specification for the “Power Backplane” connector. This addressed the problem that one of the two footprints is protected by patent. ept therefore played a major part in developing an additional footprint for inclusion in the specification. It is not protected by patent and is therefore freely available. This "MicroTCA™ Power Connector" is a combination of the familiar hm2.0-8 connector with 72 signal contacts and a UPM power component, which is now of two-row pattern with 24 power contacts. This combination permits a load of up to 12 A per pin. ept supplies this power connector with the reliable ept Tcom press-fit technology; since an open standard is used, other companies are able to enter the market as a second source of supply.

Connecting Interface Type M8/M12 for Industrial Automation

PRECI-DIP is providing standard internal interfaces for M8 and M12 round connectors, which are currently used in industrial automation. In addition, PRECI-DIP is offering the possibility to customize the interfaces in order to make a fully integrated body solution creating a direct I/O bottom entry. This is often used to connect various industrial sensors and panels. The customization can involve orientations, contact sizes for power applications, and patterns. In some cases, transparent plastics can be used to have lighting function in combination with a LED system.

New space saving pin headers with a 1,27 mm pitch and high quality round contacts

With the new pin header series 755 and 756 W+P PRODUCTS offers new space saving solutions, which are characterized by a high mating reliability and a flexible choice of the pin length. They ideally allow the application in systems requiring small space for the plug in process and high standards for safe connections; e.g. in medical technology and industrial control technology. The pin headers are realized with a 1,27 mm pitch and an insulation height of 1,9 mm. The contacts consist of round pins with a cross section of 0,42 mm, they are available as gold or tin plated versions. The pins can be ordered in customer designed lengths from 8,0 to 20,3 mm. The insulators consist of high temperature resisting LCP and are suitable for a leadfree soldering process according to the JEDEC/JSTD020C. A safe function is guaranteed in a temperature range from -55 to +125°C. The new pin header series can be delivered as single row, double row or sandwich version with 1-50 or 2-100 contacts, straight or right angled. As corresponding counterpiece W+P PRPODUCTS offers the female header series 155.
