DOMINANT Primax - A new era of high intensity illumination in LED

Primax is designed to provide high intensity light output in a very small package. It completes our high-power product portfolio by covering the range between our Power DomiLED and the high power SPNovaLED. With its high flux output and high luminous intensity, our Primax overruns today's standard lighting technology and its perception.

The Primax package has a compact size of just 3.5mm (L) x 3.5mm (W) x 1.2mm (H) and is available in red, amber, yellow, blue, true green and white color. It provides a 4000mcd typical luminous intensity at 140mA in amber and red and 5000mcd in yellow. Using InGaN technology, high intensities for blue of 1200mcd typical and true green of 7400mcd typical at 150mA are specified, whereas the white Primax is rated with an excellent 5500mcd typical luminous intensity at 60mA.

This new product line, ISO/TS16949 certified, meets the high quality requirements of the automotive industry.

The world’s thinnest high-brightness Chip-LED at 0.17mm

Seoul Semiconductor’s new chip-LED, WH108, measures 1.6mm in width, 0.8mm in length and 0.17mm in height, and represents a significant reduction in thickness. The WH108 is 15% thinner than the industry’s existing thin chip-LED, which measures 0.2mm.
The WH108 also delivers superior performance at a luminous intensity of 240 mcd, more than two times brighter than the existing chip-LED at a current of 5 mA.
The WH108 has enhanced thermal characteristics, meaning it can withstand and perform reliably in demanding environments such as:
• Small lights: inner lighting of refrigerator, reading lamp of automobile
• Special illumination devices: endoscope illumination
• Automobile dashboard lighting

The World’s First AC-Driven Semiconductor Lighting Source, Attains Higher Efficiency of 80 lm/W

Seoul Semiconductor has made significant strides in a short time to improve and raise the level of performance of Acriche, the world’s first semiconductor lighting source that can be directly connected to 110 volt or 220 volt AC outlets without the need for an AC-DC converter. In November 2006, Seoul Semiconductor began mass producing Acriche with luminance efficacy of 40 lm/W. By the second quarter of 2007, Seoul Semiconductor was securing large volume sales for Acriche. In September 2007, Seoul Semiconductor’s researchers improved Acriche’s performance to 60 lm/W. Acriche is also the world’s first LED package to receive the CE Marking, a notable global mark of safety. The LED light source also conforms to the stringent German TUV certification. These achievements coupled with the improved performance at 80 lm/W sets the stage or Acriche’s success in the world markets. Seoul Semiconductor is expecting increasing demand of Acriche worldwide.

Seoul Semiconductor's New LED Delivers the World's Highest Brightness of 900 lm at 10-Watt

Seoul announced the development and commercial release of the ultra bright LED, Z-Power P7 Series. The Z-Power P7 Series, which the company started producing in volume quantities today, delivers the world's highest brightness of 900 lumens at 10-watt. The 10W P7 single LED package produces luminous flux of 900 lumens -- much higher than the 60-watt general residential incandescent lamps, which only produce 660 lumens. The Z-Power P7 Series has an efficacy of 90 lumens per watt from a single package, which is eight times higher than incandescent lamps.

Incandescent bulbs and halogen lamps have dominated the interior and display lighting market segments because of their high CRI (100). But because of their low luminous efficacy (10~15lm/W) government authorities worldwide have passed legislation, which will go into effect over the next few years, banning the sale of these products.

With high CRI, superior lumens per watt and long life, Seoul Semiconductor’s new top view LEDs are poised to dominate the lighting market segments where high-performance light sources are a must.
Seoul Semiconductor’s new Top View LED series: Warm White part (CAWT722-S) has a CRI of 96 and achieves 68 lm/W, while the Pure White (CWT722-S) has a CRI of 92 and produces 70 lm/W.

According to a Seoul Semiconductor official, these new items are said to provide 4 times higher luminous efficacy than previous lighting sources while meeting the stringent requirements of today’s lighting designers.
